Brief Overview
In this project, you will learn about and explore shape, form and proportion by designing and making a pendant (hanging) lamp.
The light can only be made from white paper/card with glue if necessary. This is about exploring shape, form and proportion. Considering various forms, you might use and how you might manipulate them to create your light shade.
Consider the existing constraints such as the size of the bulb and the fixing. It is around these parameters you must construct your form. Layer your materials. Try thinner and thicker papers/cards. Look at overlapping elements/tabs and consider those as design elements. Evaluate all changes at every step.

Research Process
In order to create and design my lamp shade I did different research and ideation. I looked at the different ways there were to fold paper and different techniques to use. I found out that the different ways of folding the paper created unique ways of the light illuminating out, creating different shapes and shadows.

Ideation and Testing Process
After researching, I began to generate my own ideas and designs for my lamp shade. After looking at different designs I found inspiration. Planning my design with how it would fit to the lighting fixture with the bulb still being accessible was difficult.
Final Design
I chose Rice paper to use as the main material for my lamp, it was very thin which I thought worked best to illuminate the light and gave a soft highlight and gleam.
I glued the different sixes of the strips I cut to the structure I made previously. I designed it to hang in an asymmetrical way. The lightness of the paper made it waft and drift where it hung if there was a slight amount of air, bringing life to an otherwise still room.
